At least we didn't get an AHL defender that plays for another team for it...

What do you think the Oilers could get for McDavid? Probably a good idea to get that done now before he forces a trade.

Given Chia's track record, he would acquire a suspect #4 defenceman, a signed MacT stick from the late 2018's and would demand that Grant Fuhr join the front office AND coaching staff as part of the trade. (the latter being a Katz demand)

How this man is still gainfully employed in the NHL given some of the deals he's made is unfathomable to me.

The loss of this year's first is going to sting if it's top 5-10. Beyond that, I'm less convinced that the Flames will truly regret that deal. Wasn't a trade made in the heat of the window to win closing.

Hammer should be much better next year, we saw it with Dougie a bit in year one too, so let's just chill a bit. Maybe next year, we see Hammer playing with Gio a bit to get his game going, and maybe we find out we just flat out overpaid for him.

Hamonic seems fine, but he and brodie together just don't work. The Hamonic deal wasn't made for this year alone either. Long term trade.

Yup, agreed. I think he settles in better next year and might see a pairing change.

If we would have had Dahlin through the draft, that might be where the sting sets in.

Odds are remote... but still.

No they do not. Unfortunately the absurd amount of fumes produced by GG’s hair products prevent him him from realizing that.

next years D-core could be much better than this year.

Gio-Hamilton
Brodie-Andersson
Valimaki-Hamonic

You would be able to roll out three pairings and not have to worry.

This is if Brodie isnt gone for some scoring help.

These three pairings would still be cheaper than Mcgayvid and Draistil

I like where your heads at, but I don’t think Valimaki makes the team next season. He’ll be in the conversation for sure, though.

Im just going off that he was a late cut and there's talk he could push for spot. Really up to him and how he comes into camp.

what about stone? I like valimaki but he will most likely play a year in the ahl before the nhl.

Season is over.
Time to shut Smith down and go with the rookies and get as much info to lay the ground work for trades.

One goalie and Bennett could land you something decent.
Very shocked they did not do anything of substance at the deadline - same as Dallas, Islanders

I get the sense that Stone was signed as a redundancy in case they felt that didn’t have the D depth they wanted or if they felt Ras wasnt ready. Hopefully they’ll feel those things are covered going into next year and give Ras his shot and move Stone in a package for some scoring or at least a decent pick.
